The mayor of Pisa, Marco Filippeschi, did attend the ceremony despite very overcast weather. The Venetian team will represent their country with pride with their 100% Italian prototype and driver line-up.
Following its game plan called "Road to Le Mans," the Cetilar Villorba Corse outfit debuted in the LM P3 class in the ELMS with two podiums finishes in the 2016 season, before taking the next step to LM P2, which earned it an invitation to the 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (LM P3s are ineligible at Le Mans).
Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto will take advantage of the experience level of Andrea Bellichi who has participated seven times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, mainly with the Swiss team Rebellion Racing. Their best result together was 12th place overall in 2012.
The blue Dallara P217, compliant with the new LM P2 technical regulations in effect this year, will hit the track in the ELMS for the first time this week at the official testing sessions in Monza, Italy on March 28th and 29th.
