WEC and Le Mans - Manor (Oreca) innovates with its own mobile app

WEC LM P2 newcomers Manor are breaking new ground with the launch of an interactive mobile app that lets fans post real-time weather info from around the track.

Fans can download the app for free from the App Store or Google Play (search for ‘Manor Endurance Racing’) to access information on the championship and team, plus live content during races and qualifying.

It also provides an innovative way for fans to interact during a race – the pioneering ‘Track-Watch’ feature. After signing up, fans at the track can simply click on one of four icons – sun, light rain, heavy rain, very heavy rain – to flag changes in weather as the race progresses. The app then sends the info and the user’s geo-location data to Manor team members in real time – something that may prove to be extremely valuable at long circuits such as Le Mans or Spa-Francorchamps, the venues of the second and third rounds of the 2016 World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Fans who help the team will be rewarded with special deals on merchandising, or garage or factory tours. However, Manor fully intends to develop the app further, adding other functions to get fans interacting and really involved with the team.

Manor had originally planned to enter a single Oreca 05-Nissan but has now decided to field two cars in every round of the World Endurance Championship except for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where the grid of 60 cars and reserve entrants is already complete.
