ELMS – United Autosports USA clinches second win in three days at Portimão

United Autosports USA's #22 ORECA 07-Gibson claimed the top step on the podium at the 2023 European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Portimão season finale today. AF Corse, COOL Racing and Proton Competition each triumphed in their respective classes.

Once United Autosports USA's #22 ORECA driven by Marino Sato/Phil Hanson/Oliver Jarvis took the lead, it never looked back. With this second victory of the weekend, the American team is the 2023 ELMS vice champion and has earned an invitation to the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans on 12-16 June.

Heavy rain significantly delayed the start of the 4 Hours of Portimão, with competitors taking off behind the Safety Car before Race Control eventually called for a red flag. The round resumed for the last three hours that included additional appearances by the Safety Car and Full Course Yellow periods.

Proton Competition won the LMGTE class and its fourth ELMS crown with the #16 Porsche 911 RSR-19 entrusted to Ryan Hardwick/Zach Robichon/Alessio Picariello. LMGTE will bow out in favour of the LMGT3 class next year.

The trio François Perrodo/Matthieu Vaxivière/Ben Barnicoat in the #83 ORECA secured the Teams and Drivers trophies in LMP2 Pro/Am for AF Corse. The Italian team won its class and finished fourth overall despite a very tricky race.

Though the LMP3 titles were decided on Friday at the 4 Hours of Algarve, Eurointernational's #11 Ligier-Nissan scored a stunning win thanks to drivers Matt Bell/Adam Ali. Swiss team COOL Racing secured the trophy in this class.
