Though Algarve Pro Racing's #25 ORECA 07-Gibson won Race 2 at the 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi, Crowdstrike Racing by APR has secured the championship title. The Portuguese team also earned an automatic invitation to the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans on 12-16 June.
Thanks to two wins and a third place finish for the #4 ORECA 07-Gibson shared by George Kurtz/Colin Braun/Malthe Jakobsen, Crowdstrike Racing by APR has clinched the 2023/2024 Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 title.
The #99 ORECA fielded by 99 Racing (championship leader ahead of the last two rounds) was forced to retire from Race 1 following a collision under Safety Car protocol. During Race 2, Al Harty Ahmad/Filipe Albuquerque/Louis Delétraz incurred gearbox troubles as early as the third lap, eventually finishing the race in 11th place. 99 Racing trailed the champions by only nine points.
In the LMP3 category, Bretton Racing's #26 Ligier JS P320-Nissan reached the top step on the podium at the end of Race 2. The COOL Racing team's #17 Ligier driven by James Winslow/Alex Bukhanstov/Manuel Espirito Santo scored the championship title.
Audi, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, McLaren and Porsche all battled in the GT category this season. Porsche emerged the big winner thanks to Pure Rxcing's #91 911 GT3 R shared by Alex Malykhin/Klaus Bachler/Joel Sturm. The Italian team also earned its ticket to this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans (to compete in LMGT3). The Triple Eight outfit's Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO finished second just six points behind Pure Rxcing. French team Sainteloc Racing's Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II rounded out the championship podium.
