Since the inception of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2012, Jota Sport, a big player in the European Le Mans Series, joins the group at the 6 Hours every year. At the wheel of the No. 38 Gibson-Nissan, Simon Dolan, Harry Tincknell and Mitch Evans gave the British team its fourth podium finish and second win in the Belgian Ardennes, despite a penalty for an early start.
Harry Tincknell: "I thought I pulled off a very good start, and I found myself second among the LM P2s at the first turn. Once in the lead, I carved out a good gap. After the penalty, I had to fight in the pack, but we knew we had a good car."
Mitch Evans: "It's incredible, I was lacking in experience and Harry and Simon's help was very dear to me. To be honest, it wasn't so bad in traffic, I just needed to leave room for the LM P1 prototypes. I took great advantage of each lap I did."
Simon Dolan: "Harry caught up very well. As to Mitch, he stunned everyone. As for me, I had to manage the gap. This win gives enormous confidence to the entire team heading into the 24 Hours of Le Mans."
