WEC-First photos of the 2016 Porsche 919 Hybrid

At the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year, the Porsche 919 Hybrid scored a 1-2 finish and clinched a record-breaking 17th overall race victory for the German carmaker. The 2016 version of the hybrid racer will be officially unveiled at 2 pm on 24 March but if you can't wait for a glimpse of the car, head to the Porsche LM P1 team's new Twitter account!

Porsche is currently running a series of private tests (see our article) at the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, the venue of next week’s Prologue, the official test for the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

The German manufacturer is gearing up for the new season with five of the six drivers named for the World Endurance Championship (WEC): Romain Dumas, 2010 Le Mans 24 Hours winner with Audi, Neel Jani, Marc Lieb, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley. Reigning World Endurance Champions Bernhard and Hartley are covering for their third crew member Mark Webber, who is busy in the commentary box for British TV coverage of the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix this weekend.

Several photos and short videos have been posted on the new Twitter account for Porsche Team, the official name of the outfit that competes in the LM P1 class.
