Between them, they have eight wins at Le Mans: two for Larrousse (1973-1974), one for Barth (1977) and five for Pirro (2000-2001-2002-2006-2007). The first two have in common having competed for Porsche. Second in a 908 in 1969 then in 1970 in a 917, Gérard Larrousse won at the 24 Hours with the French constructor Matra, forming with Henri Pescarolo a twice-winning legendary duo. The son of a driver, Jürgen Barth was loyal to Porsche for all of his 13 participations. His moment of glory came in 1977 along with Belgian driver Jacky Ickx and the American Hurley Haywood. It was a suspenseful win as his car experienced engine problems at the very end of the race, but he was able to bring the troubled 936 slowly to the checkered flag.

The name Emanuele Pirro is indelibly linked to Audi's history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He won his five victories at the wheel of an Audi. With Tom Kristensen and Frank Biela, he was part of the first driver line-up to win three consecutive times. Then, in 2006, still with Biela and also Marco Werner, he brought a diesel prototype to victory for the first time at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
