Team: Panis Barthez Compétition
Car: Ligier JS P217-Gibson
- René Binder (1st participation)
- Julien Canal (10th participation)
- Will Stevens (4th participation)
This year, the team formed by former F1 driver Olivier Panis and 1998 world football champion Fabien Barthez took its fourth start in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The #23 Ligier JS P217-Gibson qualified in 19th position. Despite a problem with the car's traction control Saturday evening, the French team crossed the finish line in 13th place overall and eighth in the LMP2 class. "We certainly made the best of things. It was anything but easy, especially given the fact we had to proceed without traction control only a few hours into the race. It was by far the most impressive race I've ever taken part in as a driver. It's a major goal of ours to win it some day," explained René Binder.
