Alessandro Del Piero aims to enter his name into the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (article here); it would not be the first nor only link between football and the 24 hours.

Raced between 2008 and 2011, the Superleague Formula ran cars in the colours of football clubs of the world, but it was not a new sponsorship concept. It was done a few years earlier at the 24 Hours of Le Mans!

In 1996, the small British manufacturer Lister came to La Sarthe with the Jaguar powered Lister Storm GT1 sporting the livery of Newcastle United. They finished in 19th place, backed by supporters wearing the famous black and white stripes - the same as the Juventus the former club of Alessandro Del Piero ... Any guesses as to the design that might be adopted for the future Dempsey / Del Piero Racing entry?
