The entry list for the 47th running of the Nürburgring 24 Hours includes 24 drivers who took part in last weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. Because the Nürburgring 24 Hours is open to GTs based on road-going models, many of the Le Mans drivers naturally come from the LM GTE Pro class.
Porsche, BMW and Aston Martin all have some impressive line-ups. Current title-holders Richard Lietz, Frédéric Makowiecki, Patrick Pilet and Nick Tandy will be sharing driving duties in the #1 Porsche 911 GT3 R for Manthey-Racing. Meanwhile, Earl Bamber (former 24 Hours of Le Mans winner) and Laurens Vanthoor will be teamed with Michael Christensen and Kevin Estre (the newly-crowned FIA World Endurance GT Drivers' champions) in the other Manthey Racing 911 GT3 R. BMW Team Schnitzer has Martin Tomczyk at the wheel of the BMW M6 GTE. His teammates are Augusto Farfus, Shledon van der Linde and Timo Scheider. Philipp Eng and Jesse Krohn are competing with Rowe Racing. Finally, Aston Martin has called up Darren Turner to drive the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 with Chris Goodwin and Christian Gebhardt for AMR Performance Centre.
Also present will be Romain Dumas (another past 24 Hours of Le Mans winner), Matt Campbell, Sven Müller and Mathieu Jaminet in the #31 Porsche 911 for Frikadelli Racing Team.
In all, 158 teams will take to the 25.378-km Nürburgring circuit, often known as Green Hell. The race starts at 15:30 tomorrow.
