This year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans sees a record number of entrants on the grid. We take a look at the 43 teams behind the 62 cars in the field. Here’s the lowdown on LMGTE Am team Kessel Racing
24 Hours of Le Mans – Kessel Racing (LMGTE Am)

Team: Kessel Racing

Class: LMGTE Am

Car and Drivers:

#60 Ferrari 488 GTE

  • Claudio Schiavoni (rookie)
  • Sergio Pianezzola (rookie)
  • Andrea Piccini (2nd participation)

Team Achievements:

Kessel Racing was granted an invitation to the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans as a result of its 2018 Michelin Le Mans Cup win. Before testing its mettle in endurance racing, the Swiss team made a name for itself in Ferrari Challenge.

Team Goals for the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans:

For this first appearance in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Kessel Racing has a huge asset: driver Andrea Piccini (age 41). His knowledge of Ferrari machines and the Le Mans circuit (participation in the 2009 edition) could take his team to the chequered flag on Sunday 16 June.

Car and Drivers:

#83 Ferrari 488 GTE

  • Manuela Gostner (rookie)
  • Rahel Frey (2nd participation. She was to share a Ford GT1 with Natacha Gachnang and Cyndie Allemann, but her team Matech Competition withdrew)
  • Michelle Gatting (rookie)

Team Achievements:

In April at the 4 Hours of Le Castellet (first round of the European Le Mans Series), Kessel Racing's #83 car finished second in the GTE class, a huge success for this new, all-female driver line-up.

Team Goals for the 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans:

Supported by the FIA Women In Motorsports commission, Kessel Racing's female trio will take the start in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time. For the Swiss team new to endurance racing, crossing the finish line will be a great result.
