In exactly 100 days, the start of the 24 Heures Motos will be given on Saturday 21st April 2018. The Sarthe event celebrating its 40th anniversary this year is the second round of the FIM World Endurance Championship: above all it marks the restart of the 2017-2018 season after the winter break. Spectators only have a few days left to take advantage of the Promo price. Competitors and organisers are already hard at work getting ready for the event!
Competitors and organisers alike have a common aim for the 40 years of the 24 Heures Motos - make it a big festive occasion for everybody by celebrating the motorbike both on the track and inside the Bugatti circuit.
In 2017, David Checa, Mike Di Meglio and Niccolo Canepa won the race on their no. 94 Yamaha entered by GMT94 in front of 74 500 spectators and went on to clinch the world title at the end of the season. The Japanese manufacturer has renewed its confidence in the same trio for 2018, and Christophe Guyot’s men will arrive in the Sarthe as favourites to try and retain their crown. However, they know that as is the case every year in the 24 Heures Motos, there will be a no-holds battle in the EWC as well as in the all other categories, and the way the race plays out is never written in advance.
The Bol d’Or in September kicked off the 2017-2018 FIM WEC season. The winter break until the 24 Hours Motos has given the teams the opportunity to prepare their bikes in numerous test sessions that helped to validate and finalise the setups. The riders have got down to honing their physical fitness and the composition of the driver line-ups is falling into place.
60 crews are expected to line up on the grid. Before that they can find their marks on the Bugatti circuit in the Pre-tests on 3-4 April.
In addition to the sporting aspect, the 24 Heures-Motos event is also a fantastic motorbike festival. Once again the fans will be able to enjoy the traditional mechanical show and the fun fair; and for the 40th anniversary of the race numerous activities and surprises are being prepared.
