FIA WEC 2015 - Alex Brundle (Morgan) to line up for Pegasus Racing in Shanghai

Pegasus Racing, a familiar name in the European Le Mans Series, will be rejoining the World Endurance Championship in Shanghai (China) on 1 November. Their lineup in the #29 Morgan Nissan has just been strengthened with the arrival of Alex Brundle.

For the 6 Hours of Shanghai, the French team has joined forces with David Cheng Racing, entered in LM P3 in the Asian Le Mans Series with a Ligier JS P3. The team will be competing in China under the Pegasus Racing Team Total with David Cheng Racing banner.

DCR’s regular duo of David Cheng and Ho-Pin Tung (who, incidentally, teamed up with Léo Roussel at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year) will be welcoming British driver Alex Brundle, 25, to their ranks for Shanghai. “Alex Brundle coming into the lineup is great news as it’s always a good thing to have an experienced driver on board,” enthused team manager Julien Schell. “He knows the Morgan very well and has had some impressive results with the car.” Indeed, Brundle took the LM P2 runners-up spot with Olivier Pla and David Heinemeier Hanson at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2013.

The team will be relying once again on the tried-and-tested Morgan Nissan. “As we have seen ourselves in the European Le Mans Series, and as shown by the results achieved by Team Sard Morand in the World Endurance Championship, the Morgan is still a competitive car,” Schell continued. “We’re capable of great things in China. It always difficult to give targets, but a top five finish is feasible or even higher if it’s raining as the Michelin tyres will come into their own.”

The team had to work quickly to change the engine on the #29 Morgan Nissan following its retirement during the ELMS finale in Estoril. The truck left the Portuguese circuit on Sunday night and headed for Stuttgart airport where the car was boarded for Shanghai on Tuesday.

Tickets for the 2016 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (18–19 June) will be available to ACO members from Tuesday 3 November, before going on general sale on Friday 6 November.
