The Automobile Club de l’Ouest gives a warm welcome to the birth of the “Groupe Pescarolo Automobiles”
vendredi 26 octobre 2007 - 11h00
The Automobile Club de l’Ouest has never had any intention of departing from its role as organiser of the Le Mans 24 Hours to intervene in the existence of an entrant, as the club is aware of its duties and the impact of each of its actions. However, this does not prevent the ACO from being attentive to the future of a team whatever its nationality or size.

It can but express its satisfaction having learned of the creation of the “Groupe Pescarolo Automobiles.” A few weeks ago, Yves Courage linked his future to that of the Oreca Group, and now it is Henri Pescarolo’s turn to consolidate his ambitions as a constructor.
Beyond the structural aspect of the joint venture between the Pescarolo Sport and Saulnier Racing companies, Jacques Nicolet deserves to be congratulated for his involvement. He is a shrewd businessman as well as a gifted driver who took over Saulnier Racing at the start of 2007.

This is the way endurance goes in the image of those drivers and private entrepreneurs who are not afraid to take on the factory teams as long as the ACO guarantees the balance between the different entrants. History shows the rightness of its actions, as testified to by this sudden upsurge over the last seven years resulting in a growing number of private teams sending in entries for the Le Mans 24 Hours at the same time as the manufacturers are making their comeback. The ACO has to select the candidates and this puts it in a delicate position, as in 2007 the club received no fewer than 76 entry forms while the maximum capacity of the circuit is limited to 55 cars.

Other reasons for satisfaction: the unbelievable suspense and the spectacle of the 2007 24 Hours where, in front of 250 000 spectators (a record), three different makes shared the rostrum (for only the 2nd time in the past 30 years), and the indecisive outcome of the 2007 Le Mans Series, which will be decided in Brazil in the last race on 10th November.

Calling upon its wisdom accumulated over 100 years, the ACO will pursue its efforts so that the glorious uncertainty of the sport is maintained right until the finish of the last race - proof of a fair and well thought-through set of regulations.

So welcome to the “Groupe Pescarolo Automobiles,” and rendezvous in 2008 for all the different Le Mans Series, which are meeting with ever-increasing success on all the continents.
