The ACO Selection Committee has picked three teams in this category in which the quality of the entrants predominates over their quantity. The former Signature team will carry the number 26 in its new life as Signatech-Nissan; it has entered an Oreca chassis made by the eponymous French constructor powered by a Nissan engine. Level 5 Motorsports, the only American team in this category - and in the prototype division – is running a Lola powered by the Honda Performance Development engine. The presence of Toyota in LM P1, and Honda and Nissan in LM P2 is further proof of the revival of interest in endurance racing among Japanese manufacturers. Their opposition comes from OAK Racing. The French team, now based beside the Le Mans circuit, has entered a Pescarolo chassis in LM P2, which it has modified, and power comes from a Judd engine. This makes OAK Racing the team with the most entries in the 2011 ILMC.
Three cars, three different chassis and as many different engines promise a thrilling battle in the baby prototype category.
One title for teams will be awarded at the end of the season in LM P2.
