Lola-Mazdas set the two best times in qualifying, while BMW took the lead in GT.

After this perfect qualifying result, the outcome of the race could be crucial for Dyson Racing. The Lola-Aston Martin of AMR Muscle Milk, direct opponents in the title race, could not take part in qualifying after an electrical problem occurred during the free practice. Romain Dumas and Klaus Graf will therefore be forced to start from the back of the grid. Guy Smith set the pole position time on the new circuit in Baltimore: "The circuit is bumpy and it's demanding, but that’s what street courses are all about. We are sad to see Muscle Milk couldn't take part and fight."

In GT Dirk Werner (Rahal Letterman Lanigan BMW M3) registered his first pole position on a street circuit. He beat the Corvette of Olivier Beretta and Tommy Milner.
