Starting from pole position, Chris Dyson and Guy Smith escape in mind, but lost precious time (28 seconds) during the first pit stops, allowing Kane and Masaood to take command in the 40th lap. On arrival, Steven Kane was not lacking praise for his team-mate: “I'm not surprised Hamaid won so early. We met at the 24 hours of Dubai and I knew he had something special. I've been teaching guys for 12 years so I can spot someone who is really talented, and I told him early on, he has it and can go a long way.” After two podiums, Oryx Dyson Racing (which is named after a species of antelope in the Arabian Peninsula) won at its fifth appearance. As for Dyson and Smith, they underlined the domination of Dyson Racing by finishing second, ensuring a comfortable lead in the series standings.
In GT, Bryan Sellers and Wolf Henzler and their Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Team Falken Tire have shown that their victory at Mid-Ohio was not just due to rain which had flooded the circuit. They won in Baltimore ahead of the BMW M3 Müller / Hand and Corvette of Gavin / Magnussen. “We're not just going to win in wet conditions, but in dry conditions as well. I wouldn't say it means more, but it certainly feels good” said Bryan Sellers.
