In 2009 at Lime Rock, Zytek became the first manufacturer to put a hybrid powered LMP on the podium. The Q10 system included a generator, a battery and an inverter. Next year, the British firm have proposed a new improved solution.

The principle remains the same, that is to recover braking energy and use it during acceleration. This device may also be used to improve fuel economy. Unlike the Q10 which is designed for road use, the ZFA (Zytek Performance  Hybrid) will be dedicated to competition and therefore much lighter than its predecessor. It's 50 extra kilos of muscle should provide an extra 55 hp. The system is designed to adapt easily to all engines.
