24 Hours Moto, a race in mourning

The Automobile Club de l’Ouest had learned with the greatest sadness, of the the death of a young spectator as a result of his injuries sustained after falling from tribune 34 yesterday.

To his family and loved ones, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest wishes to express its deepest sorrow and support in this terrible ordeal.

The accident took place at 01:20 on Sunday, September 25, 2011. The victim fell from the grandstand above the pits, landing in front of garage 27.

Seriously injured, the young man was immediately rescued by a circuit medical team.

Transported first to the circuit medical center, he was then taken by the Mobile Emergency Service Intensive Care before being transferred at 02:30 to the hospital of Le Mans.

Unfortunately he was to to die of his injuries.

The 22 year old young man was from the Haute Vienne.

A police investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, at present still unknown.
