Peugeot's press release has been a bombshell for endurance racing. Several competitors gave their views on the withdrawal of the French manufacturer.

Henri Pescarolo Pescarolo Team: "First, I think of some 150 engineers, drivers and engineers who had worked like crazy to prepare one of the best cars in the world. What happens to Peugeot is the result of the economic crisis, but also the alienation of France to the car. Peugeot's decision is bad for endurance, for sport, for Peugeot and France. The problem with major manufacturers, it is a decision of the Board may appear financially sound, but sportingly be irrational. I said six years it would be dangerous to forget the private teams, and unfortunately, today, I'm right."

Audi Sport (Twitter): "Audi Sport is very sad to lose a competitor. We will always remember the fierce battles that we had with Peugeot. Goodbye! "

Allan McNish, Audi driver (Twitter): "A bad day for everyone at Peugeot Sport. Thank you for the fantastic competition over the years."
