It is the American DeltaWing project that has been offered the 56th pit box for the 24 hours of Le Mans.

While traditionally increased competitive performance comes through increased engine power and downforce, the DeltaWing concept aims to reduce all consumption (fuel, oil, tyres ...) without reducing performance. This machine, with a long nose and a very narrow front, has a 1.6 litre turbocharged engine, developing 300 hp at 8,000 rpm. Downforce is generated solely by the bottom of a car designed to be lightweight (475 kg) without additional wings. This car will race outside classification but must meet all the guarantees of safety and performance required by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest to be accepted to run in qualifying.

Note that Green GT, one of the three projects submitted for the place known as the 56th pit, could try their hydrogen powered car during the test day, June 3, 2012
