The ACO to celebrate 110 years of history in Retromobile show next week

From February 3 to 7, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) will display a great exhibition dedicated to its 110 years of existence in the yearly Retromobile show in Paris.

A few days after celebrating its 110th anniversary on January 24, the ACO will welcome fans and enthusiasts for this exhibition at Retromobile, taking place in Paris Expo (Porte de Versailles) on the footbridge from Hall 1 to Hall 2.2 (1,300 sq meters). Visitors will travel in time back to 1906, with the recreation of the office where everything started with Georges Durand, René Pellier, Georges Carel and Gustave Singher, the founders of the Automobile Club de la Sarthe (the first name of the ACO), including campaigns for road safety, driving courses and education, sustainable development, and - last but not least - the universe of the Le Mans 24 Hours. Initiated and organised by the ACO since 1923, the event has become a technological laboratory for manufacturers.

Many vehicles will also be on display: the Bollée three-wheeler, the no. 76 IMSA Matmut Porsche GT3 RSR victorious in 2013 in the LM GTE Am category at Le Mans, the Ferrari 330 P from the “Criterium du Jeune Conducteur” decorated by Keith Haring in 1984, the Dino Berlinetta Speciale Pininfarina unveiled at the 1965 Paris Motor Show, the Porsche 904 GTS used by Michelin for testing, Jacques Séguela’s Citroën 2 CV, the 1937 Chenard et Walcker tank and the Matra 670 B victorious in 1974 and more. The ACO is displaying many exceptional vehicles from its collection and will also show unique previously-unseen period photographs. A second 50m2 stand in Hall 1 will be dedicated to the sale of both modern and historic collectors’ items from the ACO (post cards, discs, official Le Mans 24-Hours programmes of past events, photographs and many more) to be enjoyed by collectors and enthusiasts.

On February 2 at 8.30 pm, the current ACO President Pierre Fillon will inaugurate this exhibition during the evening reserved for professionals and press.
