Current president of the Drivers' Club and two-time Le Mans winner (1973 and 1974), Gérard Larrousse underscored the ACO's unfailing support of the Drivers' Club relative to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. After having received his trophy created by sculptor and photographer Manou Zurini (the shape of which "evokes both a prototype and a GT," according to Larrousse), Pierre Fillon acknowledged the drivers, an integral part of the heritage of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In addition to Larrousse, German drivers Jürgen Barth and Jochen Mass were the other former winners present at the ceremony. There were also several French drivers such as Jean-Claude Andruet, Hervé Poulain and Raymond Narac. The ceremony took place at the stand belonging to Porsche, the winningest manufacturer at the 24 Hours. One could also admire the 911 GT1 that won at Le Mans driven by Stéphane Ortelli, Laurent Aiello and Allan McNish.

After the inauguration of the 110th anniversary exhibition for the Automobile Club de l'Ouest at Retromobile, at the gangway linking Halls 1 and 2.2 at the Paris Expo site of the Porte de Versailles, then this Drivers' Club trophy, the third big event for Pierre Fillon during this first week of February will be the press conference on Friday, February 5th, where will be revealed the list of competitors invited to the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
