The
A.C.O. has always considered competition
as a testing laboratory in the service
of technology. The aim of encouraging
innovation, improving reliability and
above all improving vehicle safety led
the Automobile Club de l’Ouest
to create the “24 Heures du Mans”
in 1923 and to continue to organise
it today.
In addition to the 24-hour race, traditionally
held in June, the A.C.O. welcomes many
other competitive events, both national
and international, throughout the year.
Each year, some 500,000 spectators attend
events at Le Mans, including the 24-hour
motorcycle race, the French Motorcycle
GP, the 24-hour car race, the 24-hour
truck race and the classic car weekend.
