10.00hrs. The LM P2 class battle was very close, despite all the leading cars having myriad mechanical problems. At 10:00 am, the 2nd,3rd and 4th place cars were all on the same lap, but two of them are were in the pits. The No.31 Binnie Motorsports Lola Zytek B05-40 was 17 laps ahead at that time, despite a long pit stop for the crew to scan all systems to ensure a race finish.
10:04 hrs. The remarkably successful run of wins at Le Mans for the No.25 RML GBR LM P2 Lola AER B05-40 is finished for this year. The engine has given up, victim of a burnt piston. Mike Mike Newton, the team owner, tells us the car will be withdrawn from the race.
10:05 hrs. The No.32 Barazi Epsilon Zytek 07S/2 hit the pit wall hard enough to destroy the rear of the car. The driver was Karim Ojjeh and he appears unhurt. The marshals attempted to move the car but were unable to do so without heavy equipment. It looks like yet another LM P2 car will not see the chequered flag. At 10:05, there were only two LM P2 cars running out of the original eleven that started.
